Receive a $ for $ credit by donating to Handi-Dogs in 2013.

tax_credit_button.jpgReduce dollar-for-dollar what you pay in Arizona income tax PLUS take a charitable deduction on your federal return!

This is in addition to the private and public school activity tax credits.

If you donate to a qualifying charitable organization in Arizona, such as Handi-Dogs, by December 31, 2013, you can claim a tax credit for 2013 that reduces dollar for dollar what you pay in state income tax.

Couples who file jointly can reduce their state taxes by up to $400; individuals or head of household filers can claim a tax credit of up to $200.

In 2013, you do not have to itemize to take advantage of this tax credit.

The money you would otherwise pay in taxes and send to Phoenix can now directly benefit Handi-Dogs' work.

How does it work?

Donate to a qualifying organization, such as Handi-Dogs.

1) Prepare your Arizona state tax return.

2) Claim the credit when you file your return by completing Form 321 for 2013Click here for instructions on how to complete Form 321.

Recent state law changes mean you no longer need to itemize your state return to claim this credit.

The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit is in addition to and completely separate from the Private School Tuition and Public School Activity tax credits – you may participate in any or all three if you choose.

If you have no Arizona tax liability for the current year, you may carry the tax credit forward for up to five years.

Your donation may also be claimed as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax.

*Form 321, which had been used to claim this credit prior to 2013, will be revised or a new form will be issued by the Arizona Department of Revenue. Details will be posted when they become available.
